Donald Trump brushes off the Epstein investigation as a ‘Democrat hoax’ while bragging about election fraud

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA - DECEMBER 22: U.S. President Donald Trump announced the creation of the “Trump-class” battleship during a statement to the media at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate on December 22, 2025 in Palm Beach, Florida. The ghost of elections past.

Donald Trump spent his holiday weekend in a characteristically unhinged fashion through a Truth Social barrage of dubious claims and misinformation, not to mention his favorite dead horse — the 2020 election — all deployed to draw attention away from the increasingly damning Epstein saga.

The administration has worked overtime to frame the Epstein files as a Democrat exposé, but the documents keep boomeranging back to Trump. A 2020 prosecutor’s email revealed he logged far more flights on Epstein’s jet than anyone knew, and a separate court filing alleges both men raped a girl who was later found dead under suspicious circumstances.

Not exactly the exoneration the White House was hoping for. And it keeps getting worse. The DOJ just announced it has discovered over one million additional Epstein-related documents, a number so staggering it sounds made up. Trump’s response? Call it a “Democrat-inspired Hoax” and demand the DOJ pivot to investigating election fraud instead.

Taking to his Truth Social yesterday, the president claimed that the Department of Justice is being “forced to spend all of its time on this Democrat-inspired Hoax.” So what should they work on instead, Mr President? “When do they say NO MORE, and work on election fraud?” Trump wrote.

But deflection wasn’t enough. Trump also needed to gaslight. The president took to his favorite digital megaphone to boast about what he called record-low crime and tariff-fueled economic prosperity. “Crime in the United States is at its lowest levels on record. Much of that is attributable to the most successful Southern Border operation in history,” he claimed, and then published another post praising his controversial tariff plan. You know, the one virtually every economist agrees is a terrible idea. “Tariffs are creating GREAT WEALTH, and unprecedented National Security for the USA. Trade deficit has been cut by 60%, totally unheard of. 4.3% GDP, and going way up. No inflation!!! We are respected as a Country again.”

In case you still require a reality check from a man whose relationship with the truth has been clinically dead since 2015 (with at least 30,000 documented lies), yes, GDP clocked 4.3% growth last quarter, but November’s inflation report showed food prices up 2.6% year-over-year, per CNN. Turns out writing “No inflation” with three exclamation points doesn’t really make groceries cheaper.

So, to recap, Trump, under bipartisan pressure, signed a transparency law, got transparency, didn’t like what it revealed, called it a hoax, and demanded everyone focus on his non-existent economic victories instead. Just another Saturday at the White House, eh?
